.net 8 version of the tool?

Would it be possible to get a new version that doesn't depend on .net 6? We generally don't have it installed on developer machines nor CI/CD pipelines because we don't use it.

@mamift I'm working on new code for linq2xsd (I'll tell you about it as soon as I have a working PoC, I'm 80% there), would it be possible to update the SDK used to develop linqtoxsd to something new, maybe net10.0, so we can use some newer C# features in new code?

All it takes is changing global.json (as long as CI/CD has the required SDK installed).
Updating the SDK doesn't change the fact that we can target previous .net versions so that linq2xsd remains usable on older platforms.

I'm not sure if that was the initial request in this issue?
A library that targets .net6.0 can be used just fined in newer runtimes. The only reason library authors target newer releases is when the library depends on the presence of a newer .net feature to work.

I've been using https://github.com/Sergio0694/PolySharp to in this project to get newer C# features and syntax that do not require runtime support. however I am in the midst of migrating the SDK to .NET 10 so allow the tool to run on .NET 8 and later.
