EA launcher runs fine and most modern games run fine too within the EA lutris prefix.

However I also want to run Red Alert 2 & mod Mental Omega.
They say I need winetricks:
dotnet40, dotnet45, dotnet452, dotnet46, xna40, cnc_ddraw, directplay and vcrun2019
(because Mental Omega & Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge Launcher were written in XNA4)

I can install most winetricks components via virtual desktop (for the installer popups, etc).
The only 2 that crashes winetricks is xna40 & vcrun2019. These 2 I can never seem to install successfully.

XNA4.0 pastebin: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/BZfYDbknHF/

vcrun2019 pastebin: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/fN26MhfqGQ/

wouldn't only 4.52 work as it"s back compatible? maybe even only 4.6.

To install them all seems overkill.

Problem/issue is really Lutris's version of WINE.
There's several variants bundled with Lutris, ie. WINE & proton-GE versions...
I am trying to use the non-GE versions since I need to use the Virtual Desktop inorder to install & get by the Windows components popup/etc.

Have you tried installing vcrun2019 on Lutris/WINE-prefix? or XNA4?
Use winetricks menu within Lutris on a game/prefix....

You don't need the virtual desktop. Especially not for Winetricks. If you really do, that should be treated as a bug
