While working on alerts (#1039 etc) I already touched upon modal windows quite a bit, because alerts are modal windows under the hood. Also when describing my position regarding modal widgets in #429 I said that I view modal windows as a building block for modal widgets.

For these reasons I will work on modal windows after the alert work has somewhat settled.

@xStrom is there any Progress on this? Seems like a nice feature. At the moment I'm trying to find a hack around with multiple windows and IPC but I'm not sure if it's the right approach and it seems to be unstable.
