One feature I miss from working with Navision (aka. Microsoft Dynamics) is the ability to configure which period you are currently working on.
So I could tell the system that I'm currently working on full-year 2014, and it would not accept any postings outside this range as long as the setting is in effect.
It could also be used to enhance usability – so any reports, lists, searches, could have the active working period as the default date range, saving a lot of clicking around.
