fix: --format outputs any string, --https only subsitute http URL scheme #3114

resolves #3112

--format: outputs arbitrarily formatted strings
--https: https only substituted when the URL scheme is http

Looks good, but needs a test so that we don't accidentally regress this in the future. Do you mind adding one?
