Needly CLI #49

Description

@kasuken

Problem

Needly is only reachable through a browser. Developers who live in a terminal will not adopt a tool that requires leaving it, and there is no way to script anything Needly knows.

A CLI is also a format developers screenshot and share, which makes it a modest distribution channel in its own right.

Scope

A cross-platform CLI distributed as a dotnet tool, with Homebrew and winget packages.

needly ls # current attention queue
needly ls --team backend # a team queue
needly open 3 # open the third item on GitHub
needly archive 3
needly snooze 3 2h
needly waiting # my blocked work
needly watch # live-updating queue

Acceptance criteria

  • Device-flow authentication, with the token stored in the OS credential store
  • Human-readable default output plus --json for scripting
  • Exit codes usable in scripts, for example non-zero when actions are waiting
  • Honours the same filters and saved views as the web app, by name
  • Works against self-hosted deployments through a configurable endpoint
  • Published to NuGet, Homebrew and winget

Depends on

A stable public API, which this issue should define rather than assume.
