Menu items overlap (multiple items / longer titles)

When multiple items are present or when the menu items have long titles, the menu items occupy two lines and can overlap with the rest of the UI. This especially happens on medium-sized screens, like tablets.

Can this be improved? Maybe by making sliding the menu items possible, within the predefined area where the menu resides?
