Single-Keyboard Multiplayer #4
Comments
Yes, it was possible in the original game, but I chose not to allow it because it made it more cumbersome to implement other features I wanted to add (4-player mode, alternate keybindings, extra rear view key). Another reason is people are going to try playing on low-quality keyboards with poor rollover (unable to register certain combinations of keypresses at once) and they're not going to have a good time. So, it's a tradeoff, and in the end I decided to force the use of controllers for multiplayer. If you only have one controller, the game will still let Player 2 use the keyboard. |
In my book, this makes total sense. I fought with many a friend about "not being able to fire", because we were pressing too many buttons at one. |
Thats very sad, but then I'll hope we might get network multiplayer sometimes, that also works. And the simple trick (we also did back then I think) was to use two keyboards, then there is no issue. Playing with controllers is not really an option for me; I know, many people prefer them, but for me I never used them, and never really liked them, and I'm horrible with them 😆 |
If I remember correctly in the original game it was possible to play multiplayer with Keyboards, by one Player playing ADSW, and another JKLI, or a similar setup. I could be wrong tho, it has been some time. But if it was possible, could we have it again?
