[BUG] Profile feeds and search no longer work #756
Comments
Seems to be due to twitter not allowing you to access the website without an account. I think this is the end of Twitter for fritter 😥 |
Nitter still works fine, not sure if relevant though. |
Some instances work, but the same issue with user search will always exist. Later this year Twitter does plan on removing the remaining 1.1 endpoints. So at some point fritter will not be able to support Twitter. |
I think fritter support Mastodon in the long term. See issue: #569 |
same here :( |
I'm able to see followers and following list with their profile pics but not the tweets :( If nitter.net still works, isn't fritter based on the same stuff. |
Saved tweets load, along with their replies, but not profiles themselves. Seems to be an issue with the profiles? |
looks like they've also faced this issue but nitter is working now. |
note: it's still possible to view tweets and more on the android app so I guess this is the last possible way to gain the access back without an account. EDIT: https://twitter.com/AqueelMiq/status/1674843555486134272 Like discussed on matrix channel of nitter it's probably temporary. |
Why not change fritter to require a twitter account, but it still handle following users internally in fritter? The twitter account then becomes the authentication only. Twitter will still see the user is viewing specific accounts, and if they're really determined could figure out who fritter is following, but this would still be more private than using the twitter app itself (where nothing is private, all user data and usage belongs to twitter). It would give an path for fritter to continue, even if it's only a compromise of full privacy. Because as-is fritter has no future unless some form of authentication is added. |
PR #759 should fix the problem with no login (with guest token). |
Nitter could be fixed, maybe this can also help to fix the problem here, see: zedeus/nitter#927 |
love the pull name! |
The old version works again |
can confirm, it works at the moment |
It works for me too in Ireland. Of course the fact that Meta launched Threads and that Threads got 100 million users in the first 5 days has nothing whatsoever to do with Fritter working again! :-D |
Is it just me or is it not working again? |
You are not alone, here too. 🤔 😉 |
It's working for me, on the ci build anyways https://github.com/jonjomckay/fritter/actions/runs/5579960923 |
Fritter currently gives 404 error |
Like @TheHCJ just wrote, I would suggest to use the latest ci build version: https://github.com/jonjomckay/fritter/actions/runs/5579960923. |
This also works for me. A word of thanks to the developers that are moving fast enough to keep up with Musk's whims! For those that are using Fritter from F-Droid, you need to uninstall that version before installing this one, presumably because of signature checks. |
It's now working again, just a bit unreliable |
Hmm it seems to be big problem lately since Elon started to limit anonymous tweet browsing. I got tired of fritter not working so I worked a bit to make fritter using a Twitter account. |
Not working for me in Ireland, it had been good for several weeks, although i don't use fritter every day so could have missed a few occasions of it not working.. |
yep, same here :( |
Describe the bug
Twitter appears to have removed an endpoint used to search for profiles and open them to see its Tweets.
