[FR] Customize height of file preview cards

• In Style Settings or elsewhere, it would be helpful to be able to customize the height of the file preview cards without necessarily impacting the number of preview lines in the file preview cards.

Why would this be useful?

• I have the plugin set to surface 4 preview lines of text.
• I have only set the plugin to surface this many preview lines of text because I want the card to be that minimum height.
• (Matter of personal preference, but) I think the text is fairly crowded if all 4/4 preview lines of text are in use.
• My current solution is to set a custom 2-line 'description' in the frontmatter that appears in lieu of the 4-lines of preview text, while the 4-line height is still preserved, but I'm only doing this as a way to create padding.
• I have tried playing with CSS in a custom CSS file, but since the card positions are being virtualized (dictating where each one starts vertically in the pane), I haven't found the right way to modify this.

My reference point before Obsidian was Evernote.

• Here the Evernote card has two lines of preview text, but the content area is three lines of text tall. There is an empty line between the content and the timestamp.
• The idea would be to specify a height for the cards (X) and then the number of preview lines you've set (Y) would leave an empty vertical space of X-Y.

• Personally I would want two lines of preview text but a height for the cards of roughly 3 lines. Someone might want to specify that the card height should be 3 lines, but the preview text should be 0 lines, leaving 3 empty lines in the card.

I think Evernote uses that empty line for tags. So it's empty when you don't have tags. If you used tags in Evernote it would probably look just as crowded?

I will look into it, in the mean time disable optimize note height in settings so all notes are always the same height. Maybe easiest is if I change optimize not height so it always show tag row even if there is no tags, that would simulate the evernote behavior. I will check

I was hoping to set up an empty line in addition to the one reserved for tags, so that even if there are tags there is still some vertical padding in the card

Ok. I am not a fan of spacing right in the middle of the note like that though, let me think about this one for a while.
