According to the doc, readLine should return null when EOF is reached. However in the case that terminal is not supported, it will return empty string instead. This seems like a bug.

I have run into this issue too when reading a line from a file created using something like this
$ echo -n "select * from testTable;" > /tmp/testFile.script
