  • no infant in this study had higher acuity in the peripheral field than in the central field

Methods

  • central stimulus and semi-circle stimulus for the peripheral (8 to 16 degree). the peripheral stimuli subtended an area approximately 12 times larger than the central stimulus
  • 39 infants, age 8 to 39 weeks

Results

  • temporal frequencies may stimulate different temporal mechanism with different acuities, producing differences between responses
  • responses properties might differ between foveal and periphery
  • there might be an interaction between temporal frequency and electrode location
