This is already implemented but disabled due to performance issues (those issues are general - eg. inefficient rendering of text in the top timeline slider, lack of caching in some places etc - and will be tackled in a separate ticket, #48 )

Something I wanted to do since the start is to also allow zooming in and out from the minimap:
