GPU-PV: GTX 960M visible in Device Manager but missing in Task Manager/Parsec #460

  1. System Specs

Host CPU: Intel Core i5-6600

Host GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (Laptop)

Guest OS: Windows 10/11 (via Hyper-V)

Tools used: easy-gpu-main (Easy-GPU-PV), IddSampleDriver (Virtual Display)

  1. Problem Description I successfully ran the easy-gpu-main script to pass through my GTX 960M to a Hyper-V Guest OS. However, I am facing a weird discrepancy:

In Device Manager: The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M is correctly recognized without any errors (No Code 43).

In Task Manager: The GPU does not show up in the "Performance" tab at all.

The Issue: Because the system doesn't "fully" recognize the GPU, specialized programs and Parsec cannot find a valid hardware encoder. Even after installing a virtual monitor using IddSampleDriver (DDM), Parsec still fails to connect or host.

  1. Troubleshooting Done

Confirmed driver files are correctly copied to the Guest’s HostDriverStore folder.

The virtual display is active and set as the primary monitor.

The GPU is working fine on the Host OS.

  1. Question Has anyone resolved an issue where the GPU is detected in Device Manager but remains invisible to Task Manager and applications like Parsec? Is this related to the mobile GPU (960M) architecture or a specific WDDM version issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
