I am an 18-year-old student aspiring to become a Software Engineer. I have been interested in development since 2019, when I first started coding in Lua and Python.
Currently, I am working on a research project focused on using AI in education.
- Project: A.I.S.L.E (AI Integrated System for Learning Enhancement)
- Team: I am working with EJ Detoya and Jim Alaine Hista.
- Objective: Aiming to improve education in the Philippines and contribute toward improving the PISA scores of the country.
- My Perspective: A long and tough task, but the opportunity to utilize AI for social good is gratifying.
I am a strong believer in learning by doing. My process is simple: have an idea, build an extremely basic version of it (normally in Python to get up and running fast), then completely re-engineer/rewrite it in another language, sometimes from scratch. Messy? Sometimes. Effective? Absolutely.
Below are the tools I am using and learning about.
- C/C++
- Python
- Lua
- Frontend: ReactJS & Next.js - I am getting great experience building functional UIs and web tools.
- Backend: Node.js - My go-to for firing up simple, working backends.
- Learning: Svelte - I am always looking into more tools for my front-end toolbox!
- Learning: Rust - I have just become comfortable with systems programming and am starting to learn about the new challenges it presents. It's humbling to say the least.
When I am not coding, you will usually find me with a camera or a video editing timeline. My other hobbies include:
- Video Editing
- Graphic Design
- Photography
- Videography
- Cinematography
Apart from just being hobbies; they're also my mental reset button. Plus, you'd be surprised how often a photography technique ends up solving a coding problem.
