When i try to publish a IPNS name on Travis Ci i get this Error: failed to find any peer in table

It looks to me like that error would occur when the IPFS node cannot find any peer with the hash you pass to name.publish. By default it ensures it exists before publishing:

Maybe this is an issue with the Travis environment?

Hmm. What in the Travis env could cause such a issue?

Is using a go-ipfs daemon? Which version? Can you try doing a swarm.peers call before the publish to see if you're actually connected to any peers? Maybe just have to add a sleep before the publish to allow the daemon to connect to some peers.

Maybe Travis started firewalling connections it doesn't recognize? Less probable though.

Btw, once Travis is done with the job, the daemon will be closed down and you won't have anyone keeping the content online, so it won't be accessible. You'll need to pin the content from a permanent node to make sure the content stays online.

Hmm ill add that info tomorrow and yeah i know i plan on setting up ipfs on my RPI 3 and also pin on users machine if they use my electron app (it loads my web app from IPFS)

go-ipfs version is: 0.4.14 (added using a npm package go-ipfs-dep (specified in package.json))
And when i tried modifying the publish code to this:

@lukas2005 your timeout is because swarm.peers is not calling your callback. This can happen when your node is not yet connected to any peers. There's a PR to fix this here.

@diasdavid do you know if this is the expected behaviour of name.publish - to error Error: failed to find any peer in table if there are no peers to publish to?

Hmm so i guess i should wait some time to let ipfs to connect to peers?

We'll have a new version of ipfs-api out soon to fix that issue but until then try waiting some time before calling name.publish so your node can connect to peers.
