Brightness level incorrect when changing with RTR-01 or WPH-01 #138
Comments
Could you perhaps try to rebuild the addon using the latest changes? There was quite a big update to all the on/off/transition logic merged last night. |
Rebuilt but experiencing the same behavior. Attaching a short film shot with my phone that shows what happens in HA when using RTR-01. If it matters the light in question is using LED trailing edge with dim start 31% and dim max 65%. Using Intel NUC with HassOS 5.10 and HA 2021.1.0. Brightness.mp4 |
@icanos Hi, how do I get all those updates into my system. I see no update for the addon in the supervisor. Still 0.4.8? Thanks. |
@f00dagi and others: You would need to uninstall the "official" addon and install the addon manually instead. If you are going to try to debug stuff I would recommend waiting until at least #149 is merged, or get the code from that branch instead. You would then be able to set logging to info/debug/verbose/silly without any code changes. Regarding the original issue: Do the changes update correctly in the Plejd app? As a second thing there is also a difference in Plejd between the RTR and the load, those are not the same device. Not saying that is the cause, just a thought. |
Yes, changes in the Plejd app are correct and follows the dimmer. |
@SweVictor: Thanks! When do you think all the changes done related to transition and brightness will be released in the official addon? In the near future? |
We're discussing when/how to release here #150, can't say a date unfortunately. |
0.5.0 released! @f00dagi please update when possible, turn on verbose logging and report back if the problem persists. Thanks! |
@SweVictor: I updated and initial testing of brightness and transition show wonderful results! Thanks for putting energy, competence and time into this. I can now continue to improve the automatic smooth change of light level in my house! |
Great to hear, thanks for reporting back! Closing for now. |
Don't know if @f00dagi had the same problem as me, but I still have the same problem as shown in the video. Turned on verbose logging and tried two different RTR-01 and DIM-01. @SweVictor I suggest you re-open this issue.

Unfortunately I'm not at home and had to get my SO to dim the lights while checking the logs from another location. Realized that it is not easy to read from the log and see what's happening with the brightness level and I think that she dimmed both ways. However, when she dimmed the wheel just two clicks down this is what the log is showing then. On monday I'll be back home and could investigate this further. I might be able to get her to maneuver a dimmer once more if needed though.

Hi, thanks for a great addon.
Could not find any issue regarding this so here goes.
When I use RTR-01 or WPH-01 to change the brightness level the lights brightness attribute in HA jumps all over the place. It jumps 60 points both ways when I change one "tick" on the dimmer. If I dim down past 0 it just "restarts" from 255 again. It's almost like the brightness-slider on "more-info" is just a zoomed in part of the whole slider.
When I change the brightness from HA everything works just fine and brightness_pct is the same as in Plejd app.
I tried changing the dim start and dim max levels in load settings in the Plejd app, but the behaviour remains the same.
The logs provide me with no clues as I can't see anything that is happening as a result of a button press or dimmer turn.
