chore: clean up README and remove WORK_ASSIGNMENTS.md

- Simplified README: removed excessive emojis, used tables
- Fixed misleading badges: removed unverified performance claims
- Clarified backtest metrics with proper context and sources
- Removed WORK_ASSIGNMENTS.md (duplicated docs/04_development/)
- README now ~230 lines vs 759 lines previously
