Contributing Guide

As mentioned in the hero-ml repo, this project is open-source, which means it requires your expertise!

There are a tonne of decent workflows in this Repo, but only you can make them better, by contributing to workflows you think your expertise would benefit!

Prerequisites

Before you start contributing, ensure that you have:

  1. A GitHub account.
  2. Installed the HeroML CLI tool OR cloned the HeroML Repo to use it with Python or Node.

Contribution Steps

  1. Fork the repository. Click the Fork button at the top right of this page.

  2. Clone your forked repository. Go to your GitHub account, locate the forked repository, click the Code button, and then click Copy. Open a terminal, navigate to the directory where you want to clone the repository, and use the command: git clone <paste the copied URL>

  3. Navigate to the cloned repository. Use the command: cd <repo-name>

  4. Create a new branch. Use the command: git checkout -b <branch-name>

  5. Make your changes. Find the relevant file(s), make your changes, and save the file(s).

  6. Commit your changes. Use the command: git add . to stage your changes and git commit -m "<commit-message>" to commit your changes.

  7. Push your changes. Use the command: git push origin <branch-name>

  8. Create a pull request. Go to your forked repository on GitHub, click the New pull request button, select your branch from the dropdown menu, and click Create pull request.

Testing your Changes

Before submitting your pull request, test your changes to ensure they're working as expected. Use the command: hero run /path/to/your/script.heroml

Submitting a Pull Request

Once your changes have been committed and pushed to your forked repository, submit a pull request for review.

Remember to:

  • Describe what changes you've made.
  • Explain why you've made those changes.
  • Reference any issues your PR resolves.
