while other libraries could be used to load from pomdp format files generated from this or other libraries, since the api provides writing to the format, it would make sense to provide reading as well.

Thanks. This isn’t implemented as parsing pomdp file formats correctly for all cases is quite involving. Open for contributions. As far as I am aware of, e.g. parsing the pomdpx file format was only implemented by its original proposers at NUS.

If one were to implement this, making use of explicit distributions as shown in the crying baby example linked here may be helpful.
