How much memory need for VSCP daemon +additional software ? (eq for Raspberry ?)
256 MB ? 512 MB ? 1GB ?
I added one DDR3L chip 256MB to STM32MP153 board.Maybe need to add more ?

Strange I commented on this but my comment did not appear to reach here.

256 is working, 512 better. 1G leaves some headroom for node-red and extras as well. OpenSSL is the most hungry part.

Can be installed node-red in device with 512K ?
I really don't want to use 2x DDR3 chips.

Should run on 512M (and even 256M). Need appropriate start up params. though

"--max-old-space-size" is recommended to be set to half of available memory.

My idea to develope host controller dedicated only for vsdp daemon and utilities insted of using Raspebrry Pi.
Of course any firware booting from SD card.Only NOR and NAND memories.
It will be based on STM32MP153 mcu.Galvanicaly isolated 2x CAN FD, 2xSerial port 2x LAN 1G and maybe several isolated GPIO's.
WiFi 2.4GHz SISO and LTE (4g or 5g).DIN rail housing from Phoenix contact.
Next step maybe to add Lora based rf host transceivers.

Another solution would be to use Qualcomm SoC (eq IPQ5018 or Broadcomm BCM6750) they have onboard 802.11ax wifi6 interface but any CAN.In this case CAN controller need to add using USB converter.
Bad news for this decision than need to certificate wifi radio.
So I tend to use STM32MP153 and certified wifi module.

Ake , do you mean power supply from CAN bus side ?

Certified wifi module is best, at least if one don't have some big customer that can take certification process cost.

No I mean something like this That is 12V/24V sent out on the CAN bus to power modules. Limited to half an ampere or so.

Or the input voltage (whatever it is) to your module is feed unregulated out on a socket or pinlist.

There are my candidates for constructions.I like very much Phoenix enclosures due to flexibility.italtronic looks a bit "cheap".
But they can be used too imho.

I have been looking at Italtronic cases for my upcoming stuff. The drawback is the price. But the size is good. No experience with Phoenix cases. Any link?

Aluminium cases is really nice. Professional feeling indeed. We used to do them on CC Systems to. The price is not so good... ;-) Do you use that for your other CAN module?

Yes RUSOKU USB <-> 2x CAN FD converter will has similar milled enclosures.
For Phoenix eclosures take a look at www.conrad.de and www.tme.eu
Prices of Phoenix enclosures is good enought for quantities >50 pcs.

Sometimes when it comes to DIN enclosed devices it tends top be a lot of boxes. Outer and inner. The inner boxed have no other use then estetic. Some sort of DIN mounted backplane would be a smarter solution for a modular system. Lower cost to. Or even a plexy glass bottom whih could be mounted to the DIN rail where pcb cards with cutouts where slided into and locked to.
