Claude quota stuck at 90% for the session and 93% for the weekly usage

Environment

• OS: macos
• abtop version: 0.3.8
• Claude Code version: 2.1.121
• Terminal: Ghostty + tmux

Describe the bug
The quota numbers for claude code are stuck at 90% (session) and 93% (weekly) for a couple days now. It worked previously. I re-ran abtop --setup, but didn't help. Running /status in claude code shows the correct numbers.

Thanks for the report. The flow is: Claude Code's StatusLine hook → scripts/abtop-statusline.sh → ~/.claude/abtop-rate-limits.json → abtop. "Stuck at the same numbers" is the symptom you'd see if the script silently exits without rewriting the file (e.g. rate_limits empty in the StatusLine payload, or an exception swallowed by the except: pass), so the old file just sits there.

Could you grab a few diagnostics so we can narrow it down?

1. Is the file actually being rewritten? While Claude Code is open and you're sending prompts, does the mtime advance?

   (If CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR is set in your env, check $CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR/abtop-rate-limits.json instead.)

2. What's actually in the file?

   cat ~/.claude/abtop-rate-limits.json
   

   If updated_at is recent but used_percentage is still 90/93, the script is firing but the input from Claude Code is producing those numbers. If updated_at is days old, the script isn't running (or is exiting early).

3. Hook config:

   jq '.statusLine' ~/.claude/settings.json
   

   Plus any project-local .claude/settings.json in the cwd you launch Claude Code from — a project setting can override the user one.

4. Sanity check: run the hook manually with a fake payload and confirm it writes:

That'll tell us whether it's a hook-not-firing problem, a payload-shape problem, or something else.
