When I connect my wheel I get the following messages from demsg.

The Udev rule doesn't seem to be working. Deadzone is not set to zero.

Hi,

the Invalid code messages are not related to udev rules. These messages are from kernel (even when you're not using this driver here) because it cannot handle the amount of Buttons Fantac Wheels offer.

About Udev rules not working, can you check/post the output of udevadm test /dev/input/eventXX? where eventXX. You can find which number your wheel is by running evtest. Also, could you post the output of evdev-joystick -s /dev/input/by-id/usb-Fanatec_FANATEC_Wheel-event-joystick (the path for you might be a bit different)?
