Can works' subtitles be recorded in their metadata?

For example:

News from Nowhere (Or, An Epoch of Rest, Being Some Chapters from a Utopian Romance)

(This topic came up in gitenberg-dev/documentation#8.)

Oh, I've just noticed http://asciidoctor.org/docs/user-manual/#subtitle-partitioning

Still, could be good to have separately parseable?

Neat! I hadn't seen subtitles in Asciidoc. I am happy with the colon+space syntax for subtitles. They would fail gracefully in python-asciidoc.

I'd like to avoid the [separator=::] and :title-separator: :: syntax if we can at all avoid using them.

Let's leave this issue open until we identify an example repo that needs subtitle.

Here's one:
https://github.com/GITenberg/News-from-Nowhere--Or-An-Epoch-of-Rest--13-Being-Some-Chapters-from-a-Utopian-Romance_3261

The title there is currently:

= News from Nowhere: Or, An Epoch of Rest; Being Some Chapters from a Utopian Romance
William Morris
