the waterfall chart is not part of OOXML, but instead a "vendor-specific" extension to OOXML. Microsoft defines such an extension for the waterfall chart. I'm not sure about other programs that support this extension or maybe something different, but pelase take a look at #975 if you want to join the discussion. Its about how to support Microsoft-specific chart types. It will start with the Sunburst chart, but others are free to take care of other chart types once its clear how to support vendor-specific charts in general.
