I was trying to make a bootable USB on a macOS to use it on an Intel N100 box but it's impossible: if you download the .iso version and decompress it for some reason macOS decompresses it to a folder and not an .iso file, and the .img.xz file decompresses to a huge 22GB image that balenaEtcher apparently doesn't support, as it gives an error saying "The writer process ended unexpectedly." I also tried giving BalenaEtcher the .img.xz file but I get the same error.

I ended up installing Windows on the N100 box just to be able to flash the USB.

Is there any way to make the process compatible with macOS?

Don't decompress… Just flash the iso file on balenaEtcher.
