h: What happens if you are in an rpc context and we call this?

My understanding is that it is fine and we still just get an http context object. No exception is thrown (at least as long as we don't operate on the object). Added an extra guard to check if we are in a http context and otherwise early-return just in case.

Adding the check has the non-trivial effect that we will not instrument requests for non-http contexts. I would try and explore other ways of determining whether we already instrumented a request.

m: Let's add brackets to the if statements. We don't have lint rules for it but we basically have an unwritten agreement that we use brackets for if statements. You could also do afterSpan?.end().

h: I think we have a race condition with the non-enumerable property. We to also set the flag before we start the span, otherwise we might start multiple if multiple async observers run in parallel.

Jep. Setting the property immediately now and updated the rest of the implementation to not rely on the property, should be fixed

Adding a span 'Interceptor - After Span' to improve instrumentation for operations happening after the route execution is done. Tracking what happens in individual interceptors after the route is hard, so currently we create one span to trace everything that happens after the route is executed.
