Information for "Location - Country", "Location - City", "Library", and certain others t.b.d. are currently free text fields which are vulnerable to erroneous inputs, while they only offer limited possibility to connect to other normative data and thesauri.

Like with persons, wouldn't it be good to have authorative information data sets to be referenced, either by a controlled vocabulary or specific data sets, allows:

  • names in different languages (İstanbul and Istanbul)
  • references to the Getty TNG or Geonames (for places)
  • references to the GND or Getty ULAN or AAT (for persons, libraries, universities)

The CMO could then also become a partner of Getty and contribute (less a task but a strategic option)

Linking other authorative files could also be reflected in the TEI and MEI being exported from the source catalogue.
