They are categorically worse than a standard crate or create vault. By every metric, this makes no sense.

They should have stack capacity upped to 24 or 32 stacks, especially since they are harder to get.

auseawesome they have the advantage of drawer controllers and also inbuilt filtering

@Discord-Github-Bridge

auseawesome on Discord says

you can just use a ton of vaults and then not need to filter though?

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

there are plenty of situations where having a filtered storage can be handy

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

in automation setups

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

e.g. sorting with pipes

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link

auseawesome on Discord says

smart filters are so much cheaper

@Discord-Github-Bridge

auseawesome on Discord says

*funnels etc

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

cost isn't really a concern

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

I never really find myself using drawers as filters

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and making their only use a filter seems a bit meh

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

also the drawer controller

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

that thing is really good for some uses

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

what uses?

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

except item teleportation which I thought you wanted to get rid of like in 'Why are ME import buses disabled?'

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

well for one, indexing lots of seperate products

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

it's very short range

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

wheras me systems are literally infinite range

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

at the point you get enough cables

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

that you can do that

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

there's almost no use

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

you've got infinite orange pipes

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

a ton of belts

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

create stress easily by just placing a waterwheel down

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

I'm not saying that some of what can happen isn't slightly problematic

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

but the drawback of restricting them to arbritrary use as a filter

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

or indexing

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

which can be done already for cheaper

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

feels odd

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

how can indexing be done cheaper

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

if ad-hoc networks aren't a thing, they become useless

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

create smart observers do the exact same thing

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and more

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and for cheaper

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

no they don't?

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

am I getting confused what you are on about

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

they can only point at one block, emit signal in every direction, and have a max resolution of 1% capacity

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

signal emitters can do any item count

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

and emit at a very different part to the storage bus

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

redstone isn't implemented yet, once it is wireless transmitters exist

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

plus when do you need to know more than 1% capacity resolution

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and create has easily settable filters that work with tags etc for the item filter

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

i suppose, i do think the ability to not have an entire block powering everything around it is good though

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

like in tight setups

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

I can't think of a single case where that'd actually matter too much

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

especially if you are using cables to route the system

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and also the wireless transmitters do almost the same thing

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

redstone deactivates/activates a lot of things

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

so having 5 blocks powered is very inconvenient, and it gets even more so if you want to power something a small number of blocks away from the stockpile switch

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

okay

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

if you can limit ad hoc networks to 1 channel

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

that prevents an importer and a storage bus

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

and still allows for the use of a storage thing and that level emitter

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

the import bus is a different conversation, but again i still don't know why you want it

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

i'll go check again

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

auseawesome on Discord says

I was saying what could allow for using the level emitters

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

i think it could make sense to monitor multiple storages via the same emitter

@Discord-Github-Bridge
Copy link
Collaborator

autistic.sack.of.friends on Discord says

but i guess it's fine
