Using the shortcut ctrl+k adds the letter k to the searched string the second time it's used

Describe the bug
When using the shortcut ctrl-k to open the search bar on the website, the first time everything goes well, but the second time the search bar opens with the letter K already filled:

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. press ctrl-k and search something
2. navigate a page or close the search bar again
3. press ctrl-k again
4. See error

Expected behavior
The search bar is empty every time it's open
