I think repo would have more usefulness if it is a general tracker for covid apps. So not just govt but any apps that are known out there related to covid. Not sure what your intent was for this repo so if you think that is a different use case I can create a new one

I'm fine with adding more apps. What should be the criterias to be on the tracker? Published on the stores? Do you have a proposal on how to organize the repo?

What do you think of organizing the repo as such:

  • merge all four sections: governmental, police, open-source, and other organizations.

Have the following columns:

  • open-source ? with links to repos or "no" because many organizations have claimed to open source their app but have not.
  • the number of stars, contributors, or commits or some metrics to show the activity level of a repo. I know those are not ideal metrics. Open to suggestions.
  • is the app using decentralized tech? Or is people's data centralized on some servers? I am not set on that column here. Many apps say they care about privacy. The idea is to find some feature to check whether they take the protection of people's data seriously.
  • backers or funding? What interests, organizations, corporates, governments are behind the app.
  • adoption numbers -- could be based on downloads. Why track adoption? Singapore government reported 16% of the population downloaded the app. Oxford researchers say 60% (of UK population) should use a contact tracing app for this tech solution to help curb a pandemic. It seems that there is a dichotomy between the claimed benefits those apps could bring and the actual results.
  • the analytics behind the apps, maybe
  • published on stores, link to stores
  • other suggestions?

Why build such a table?

  • people (building apps) are working towards the same goal. Maybe the table can help ppl join forces.
  • to keep accountability
  • track results? It seems that there is a dichotomy between the claimed benefits those apps could bring and the actual results.
