@ninavizz, Anxhelo, Saptak. Huertanix & Eloquence, following along and contributing via Gitter #HotelWifiWinning
https://meet.jit.si/QuickWizardsDanceHigh
What should we discuss?
- Styleguide: general progress, tone-of-voice stuff
What is the best process to collect and share user feedback from the FPF training team's SecureDrop trainings with for-reals SecureDrop users?
- #OhInterwebs
- Hotel wifi was terrible, so David and Erik were on intermittently at the beginning then watched/followed via Erik's phone and contributed in Gitter
- Nina had connectivity issues, so was a few mins late and had to rejoin mid-meeting
- Anxhelo presents updates to Ura Design's SecureDrop Styleguide!
- Reiteration of and consensus, that goal of styleguide is documenting aspirational design things—not forensic things we all agree are stale or are in need of change.
- Left sub-nav, new; tons of new content!
- Reviewing Components page
- Nina: Buttons all appear to only be from website. Could we get examples of primary, secondary, and table/list-item buttons for the webapps?
- Buttons w/ and w/o far left icons
- Would be helpful to present an inventory page of all buttons and to decide which should have icons—what those icons should be—and which should not have icons. Seems to be a bit of overload today, with icons on all buttons in the app, and not all icons making total sense or adding much value.
- Nina (afternote): I can provide Ura a list of all existing buttons from recent content/screen inventory, if that could help?
- Saptak: Could we get code snippets for CSS, etc., also shared as codeblocks in the Styleguide?
- Reviewing updated Voice/Tone page
- Nina: An introduction that presents to contributors who our users are, should be included. As with all text, it should be prioritize brevity and clarity.
- (afternote): User profiles (as precursor to proper personas) have yet to be done, and are mid-process. Nina will email things to Ura, once they're more together; eta, not for another week or two. Nina' waiting to meet with Bernard, Harlo, and David, to tighten these up.
- Nina: Should be edited to pare-down volume of text to read more quickly
- Nina: Would be nice to add a do and don't section, as Google does in their Material Styleguide
- (afterthought): Would be nice to also include the "Write simply and directly" bit from the aforelinked styleguide.
- For this, would be great to make updated text recommendations for Journalist or Admin web interface, and to reverse-engineer some don't examples from text in the Source interface that's been carefully developed.
- Nina is already doing a content audit, FYI.
- Nina also flagged need to reconcile all content inconsistencies between Journalist/Admin Web UIs and the new Workstation UX, before January/February pilot begins, as separate but possibly related thing.
- Nina: An introduction that presents to contributors who our users are, should be included. As with all text, it should be prioritize brevity and clarity.
- Research things David had hoped to present, punted to next week, via #OhInterwebs issues
