We use the npm_package_version env var to set app_version for manual logEvent calls but it would be nice to have a way to set it globally for all automatically collected events as well, so that it shows up in Firebase Analytics under "App version".

Hi @eliw00d, thanks for the feedback. We really love to hear from our developers. Currently, the automatically collected app version user property or dimension is only available for mobile apps.
Per checking, there's already an internal request filed for this feature. We can't provide definite timelines or details for when it will be available. You may keep an eye out on our release notes to get the latest updates about Firebase.
Would be great to have this feature. I have a Web / Native App combination with Ionic. I would like to see version differences for all platforms, not only the native Apps
