DOC format is old, DOCX format is more widely supported

Replace the DOC export with DOCX export, both for abiword and libreoffice

Describe alternatives you've considered
Current DOC export works, this is not a pressing issue, just an idea.

What do you think about this? Is this a simple change, or is it more complicated?

Oh wow, I thought we did export docx by default =D Yea we absolutely should be exporting docx over .doc...

Hello, is somebody able to fix this problem? It is still up to date, because in many companies it's not possible to open the old *.doc format (Word XP binary format) based on the Microsoft security baselines.
