Sorry for my late reply. I wasn't aware of readability metrics prior to using Vale, so when I informed myself about them, they started to look more and more like something which merely adds a veneer of quantitative rigour to the otherwise artistic endeavour of gauging text quality. I just feel that a short cautionary note in the documentation would be helpful, that's all. Once again, thank you for your work on this project! |

I'm new to Vale and am positive about its customization options but I have some doubts regarding its support for readability metrics. For starters, this topic is controversial, as there's no consensus on a metric's ability to properly evaluate reading level. A 2014 study (secondary source) suggested Dale-Chall to be the most effective, yet from my understanding, Vale doesn't support it. Given that, I was wondering if Vale should even promote the use of other metrics if it doesn't support Dale-Chall.
