"Waiting for program to start..." #155

I've been using VS65 debugger successfully for quite a while, including last night. However, this morning when I launch the debugger it compiles the app and launches VICE with the app but never connects to the monitor. I see a message in the bottom right corner "Waiting for program to start..."

Things I've tried...

I opened an old hello world program I've tested the debugger with in the past. Didn't connect.
I've installed a new version of VICE (3.8)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled VS65 Debugger
I've temporarily turned off Windows Defender Firewall incase it was preventing a connection.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

These lines stand out in the terminal.

@jamesor I tested this out and the published version seems to be working correctly for me. I'm not sure what your issue is yet

I figured out my problem. If i used printf() instead of cprintf() the debugger would not see the program start. Changing to cprintf() and the debugger worked. This is my example code:

I'm working on rewriting the debugger core, so I'll try to figure out what's happening here also. It may take a moment though.

You could see progress at my personal git site. I probably will repoint the published extension there when it's done. It's not fit for use yet, but my general idea is to slim things down and drop a lot of features to make it easier to support. This shouldn't affect the C64 debugger, probably, but I'll definitely be removing support for NES and Apple ][ .

Much appreciated! I haven't been able to use the debug feature for awhile now and I haven't had any luck investigating the problem myself.
