Can't see messages sent by me

Steps to reproduce

I just noticed that I can't see any of my previously sent messages in DMs nor in rooms. This is consistent on Android (Element X) and on Desktop in Firefox.

Outcome

What did you expect?

I expected to see the messages I've sent in the past.

What happened instead?

I saw no messages sent by me. Not even a placeholder message "bubble" which says something like "waiting for message" or something like that. Just, no message "bubble" at all.

Operating system

Android 15, Graphene OS on Pixel 9a.
NixOS 25.05 on my Laptop.

Sounds like an issue with your server as Element X & Web are different codebases.

Sent the logs from the web application. Please let me know if you have them or not.

Pinging a bit impatiently because I can't communicate with some of my peers and it is quite a pain.

I am also now seeing this, logs sent.

As discovered by @sandhose, for @langleyd, they were on their own ignore list.

You can check your ignore list by going to Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Ignored users (at the bottom)

Potential causes

There may be a client bug somewhere. @langleyd suspects this may be from declining and ignoring all of the spam invites recently. @turt2live also mentioned this might be clients using sender of a m.room.member event, which could be a kick/ban.

Also possible for it to be a backend issue but that code hasn't been changed in a while.

Somehow I ended up on my own ignore list? That was the issue, thanks.
