1. "Where did you start? What can you see?"
I joined a channel where I can only see messages up to the point when the invite was created. Recently, there was a new message in an earlier thread, which I noticed because it appeared in my message pop-up. No matter how often I mark the channel as read, the unread message notification reappears every time I restart the application. But I can't read the message any other way, since the thread is form before my invite was created.
2. "What do you click on?"
Right-click -> Mark as Read
Outcome
What did you expect?
The Channel shouldn't have an unread message anymore.
What happened instead?
It has an unread message.
Operating system
Fedora 39 - Workstation Edition
Application version
Element version: 1.11.57, Crypto version: Olm 3.2.15

Will you send logs?
Rather not, since I would need to obfuscate a bunch of stuff by hand.
