Steps to reproduce

  1. Use Element Desktop Nightly on Windows 10
  2. Graphics driver hangs the system pretty badly. Shut down technically cleanly using the hardware button (Windows doing its shutdown routine) - but everything is slow, things might have timed out and unsure if Element was closed cleanly
  3. Reboot
  4. Element works
  5. Nightly update becomes available. Click to update
  6. Update says "missing session data"

Outcome

What did you expect?

either data was broken earlier by the half-crash and previous version should have detected broken session

or

continues to work after update

What happened instead?

"missing session data" modal, logging me out, followed by this broken login screen

#692 but I want to highlight that it worked and only updating "broke" it

That is because my initial sync is still going
