Describe the bug

Autotype from bitwarden app into basic authentication prompt does not work.

It looks like the DDG app is sending its own Id to Bitwarden instead of the site name. This works correctly on authentication boxes embedded in a web page.

How to Reproduce

  1. Go to a site requiring basic authentication
  2. Click the bitwarden auto fill button

Expected behavior

Username/password are typed into the prompt

Environment

- DDG App Version: 5.102.2
- Device: Pixel 3
- OS: Android 12

"It looks like the DDG app is sending its own Id to Bitwarden instead of the site name. This works correctly on authentication boxes embedded in a web page."

what do you mean by "own id"? I've tested this with a different password manager (LastPass) and it worked, so not sure what could be the issue with bitwarden.

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well.

  • Open a site using basic authentication
  • At the prompt, click the 'Bitwarden My Vault' button appearing at the top of the Gboard keyboard (Pixel 3).
  • The Bitwarden vault opens, but no entry is selected. The entry for that website should be searched for and opened
    • On Firefox/Chrome, the vault will open to the correct entry
    • Other open source chromium based browsers suffer from the same problem (entry is not searched for correctly)
    • I said "sending its own Id" because I occasionally get a message in Bitwarden saying There are no items in your vault for com.duckduckgo.mobile.android. Meaning bitwarden is receiving the app id from DDG browser instead of the website name.

Hopefully that's more clear!

Thanks

Some problem with a Pixel 6a (Android 14) and the latest versions of DDG and Bitwarden. I installed Firefox and there the autofill with Bitwarden works.
