🧪 Docmd Roadmap & Future Releases – Ideas, Features & Experiments

This thread is a living roadmap and a dump zone for all future-facing thoughts around docmd.

Some are real features, some are throwaway ideas - just so we don’t forget we had them in the first place. If they make sense, they’ll land in the pipeline and might be added to future releases.

We’ll cross out the ones that are implemented or ruled out.

Suggestions, feedback, experiments - all welcome.

✨ Feature Ideas & Pipeline Notes

🧠 General Improvements

• Investigate lighter integration of Lucide Icons, possibly switching to CDN-based SVG fetch or selective imports, to reduce package bloat — without affecting current fast build times.
• Collapsable menu items, can be implemented as an optional attribute.

🔌 Plugins

• Search Feature: Design a lightweight, custom search engine tailored for docmd’s structure, ideally client-side and index-free, but fallback to lighter libraries like Flex Search if needed.

🎨 UI & UX

• Glass Theme: Could be a fun experiment.

For v0.2.5

• Add frontmatter support for controlling Table of Contents visibility: Allow users to define toc: in the page frontmatter. This will provide more flexibility by letting them choose whether to fully display the TOC, hide it completely, or only suppress the container while keeping the sidebar for future use.
