When a unit is occluded or behind the player they should still be visible within a small radius, maybe 3 or 5 meters?

As occlusion is completely visual based, I do not see the point of this right now. If a unit is that close you could either look behind you quickly or the unit is buried in rubble, is in another room or even another floor.

In these cases occlusion works as intended. So I am asking my self what is the underlying problematic here? Searching for ace unconscious people, still being able to have a bearing on friendlies?

I could imagine adding a CBA EH for ACRE and TFAR if someone speaks near you their blip will be revealed as you hear them and simply can use your ears to pin point the approximately direction.

I think an EH for ACRE and TFAR would work pretty nicely.

The other issue could be solved by having players stay visible in a base distance, but not appear in that base distance. So if you walk up to a building with rubble you would need to visibly see where people are for them to appear on the radar. If someone is behind you though when you turn around and look at them they will appear, they will then stay on the radar as long as they remain in the base distance. If they leave the base distance you will need to look back to see them again.

I understand if that is a bit too much for the mod though, as it would add some complication. The speaking EH will at least be an improvement.

I'm also opposed to this.
The scope would be weird, DUI is visually based for members of your squad, would the audio respect that?
Really though, if someone is talking behind you then you should already be able to tell roughly where they are from the positional audio, making them show up in the radar would be redundant.

I've given it some thought. This is only a feature for groups using occlusion and having a view cone set to limit them further.
I am not opposed to adding further ACRE and TFAR support, now in the case of revealing units. DUI has a metric ton of optional customizing people with time on their hands can look into, not even I use most of the features. While DUI is currently visual based, it still is a crutch/visual aid, so adding support for ACRE and TFAR in that regard is still in scope in my opinion.

However these features will be by default off (knowing many people do not even look at the settings) and these will obviously only work if the radar's occlusion feature is enabled. So, for people not using occlusion it will do virtually nothing.
