Downloaded Version Not Working

The online version works fine but when I tried using the downloaded version it just opens a page that says "Loading..." and never does anything else.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I opened the index.html file (found inside the 'src' folder) in a browser.

How can I get this to work?

I was having the same issue with the GITHub version. Here are the steps I used to get things working locally on my (Windows 11) machine:

1. Mirror the running site (below is one way to grab the files, but if you're comfortable, a quick way to do it is to use wget --mirror):
   a) Open https://mattj.io/sms-backup-reader-2 in Chrome or Edge
   b) Hit F12 (developer tools)
   c) Click on Sources
   
   d) Under sms-backup-reader2, right click main and SaveAs - choose a local path on your system (i.e., c:\SMS) and save main as index.html
   e) Right click each of the other files (inline.318b50c57b4eba3d437b.bundle.js, main.acdae8e2eeec4ee2363f.bundle.js, polyfills.bf95165a1d5098766b92.bundle.js, styles.10702000a60e8855c78c.bundle.css) and save to the same directory (in this case c:\SMS) retaining the default filenames.
2. Install Node.JS: https://nodejs.org/en/download - (this will also install npm)
3. Open a Command Prompt (hit the Windows key and type Command Prompt )
4. Install Angular (from the command prompt): npm install -g @angular/cli
5. Install http-server: npm install --global http-server
   (Note that you can also use an Apache server, but I found this the most portable way to get the server running)
   The local directory should have 5 files:

c:\SMS>dir
Volume in drive C is Windows
Volume Serial Number is 0A73-0C3C

Directory of c:\SMS

11. Now, from the command prompt in the c:\SMS directory, type http-server . --port 8181
12. The local server should be up now
13. Go back to a browser and you should be able to connect using http://127.0.0.1:8181

Wow, you did well to work all that out! Since I asked my question I have started using SMS Backup (by Jerry Zigo) instead. The online reader looks nice straight off the bat (see pic). After a backup is made on your phone you are prompted to email the file to yourself and then you can download to any device and open it in any browser.

may i ask why not i open the link https://mattj.io/sms-backup-reader-2/main ,it does not work after i load the xml. file . I do not know miss which progress.
