What exactly happened to this? It used to be great #2031
Comments
I have exactly the same issue |
It works for me for the current release 2.4.0. Maybe try first to disable SSL in Barrier Settings. |
It looks like Barrier is being superseded by input-leap. The readme says that it's not quite ready though. |
Especially after upgrading macOS to Ventura, Barrier's performance has been terrible, with the mouse cursor getting stuck and stuttering. |
I was able to get it up and running with a macOS Server and a windows client just fine. File drag-and-drop did not work though. Clipboard worked fine. |
Still using this on a X11 host server with two Windows10 machines (and a linux server). It can be a little fidgety to setup initally, I often need to turn off SSL and manually input server address but overall its pretty neat. I hope Input Leap one day gets some decent updates and Wayland support but even the expensive PAID synergy app doesn't have Wayland support. |
Input Leap on 3 macOS Sequoia machines is working well from recent builds, with one minor hiccup with a workaround noted here: input-leap/input-leap#1322 (comment) |
For those trying to figure out what to do now that Barrier hasn't had any updates in a while, this may be helpful: |
Long and short of it. Wayland is what happened. Which doesn't support this kind of software yet. (unsurprising trait of wayland) |
Both Deskflow and Input Leap support Wayland. Synergy v1.16 also supports Wayland because it's downstream of Deskflow. Barrier (which was forked from Deskflow/Synergy) never got Wayland support but there was a bounty for Wayland support in Barrier, and "$2550.42 has been collected" (#109). |
I talked to the Synergy devs not long ago and they said wayland support would come in their next version. So I do not know but they said the components were not supported in WL yet at the time. I'll check those all out sometime. Will be nice if they do indeed work fully under WL. |
Probably referring to Synergy v3.2 which is due to land soon. Synergy v1.16 actually already has Wayland support, since it's based on Deskflow. |
What happened?
I get constant connection drops on my M2 MBP. Disconnects, just awful performance.
