There have been a few requests for this in different forms. One of the better-articulated ones is in this forum post

This can also allow one to pin the first pane and have other notes scroll.

I've been using obsidian for a couple months now and I kept losing my main document. I've realized this is the missing piece! Locking a doc would help a whole lot since we can't pop-out windows.
