Question

Who are the maintainers of this repository and who should be the owners of the associated pypi accounts?

As of now, the list of people who own the pypy and test pypi accounts for DataFusion is historically based on the governance structure of apache arrow / datafusion. In other words it consists of largely Apache Arrow PMC members.

Since datafusion-python is no longer governed under the Apache Arrow project, it may make sense to revisit the ownership of the pypi repos to reflect a different set of maintainers and whatever governance process / style they choose.

I have no active usage for this python binding and am willing to relinquish it to other maintainers if needed. i can also keep maintaining it for a while given the light process.
