He there I'd like to start contributing to this project. I'm assuming I should pick up an issue and get cracking. Is there any guidance on what I should pick up?

Feel free to choose any open issue that hasn't been assigned yet, or even create a new one if you have an idea. Please assign yourself to an issue so that we know someone is working on this.
