How to test if a file on the SFTP file is locked by another process?

We're trying to find a way to determine if a file is in use on the SFTP server before attempting to download it. It would be great if this was possible without renaming the file on the SFTP server.

When file is locked, this code still downloads the file, even though we don't want that

Code to lock a file

$file = 'C:\Test.txt'

# Open file in read only mode
$file = [System.io.File]::Open($file, 'Open', 'Read', 'None')

# Close and unlock file

Sadly, the SSH.NET library used does not expose that data as a property or a check via a method.

Thx for getting back to us.

We now use Move-SFTPItem to try to move it to a temp folder on the SFTP server, instead of renaming in place. We noticed some old apps still scan the folder and try to access the renamed file.

It would've been better if Get-SFTPItem would fail, but I guess we can't have it all lol. This at least works. Thx for the great work anyhow.
