My actions before raising this issue

I am labeling objects in images taken by a fixed camera using rectangles
I want to use track mode per default, sometimes when I refresh it goes back to shape mode.

Expected Behaviour

Either be able to disable shape mode (or track mode) when creating the label
Or be able to differentiate easily between objects created using shape mode and track mode (for example different colors)

Current Behaviour

labels created using track mode and shape mode look exactly the same

Possible Solution

Give different colors for labels created using track mode and shape mode, or be able to use track mode per default.

Context

Now I have to double check I am using track mode very often.

@sidimomo Could you please describe use-case when within one task you need to create both shapes and tracks?

In fact currently we are only using track mode to label insects trapped on a sticky plate. There is a fixed camera that takes photos on a regular basis. What happens is sometimes we start using track mode (using shortcuts to create new boxes) and somehow it switches to shape mode, and we only notice that when we go to the next frame. So it would be helpful if we could disable shape mode on a project level or at least be able to differentiate visually between boxes created in track vs shape mode (assign different colors for example). Thank you!

Okay, I see. You do not want to use both, you just want to disable one extra.
Basically I can say, that by default (when you open CVAT annotation view) it creates shapes if a task was created from image set. And it creates track if the task was created from a videofile. Maybe it would be a good solution to specify default object type in labels specification
