Combat Banter

Summary

Starting in version 1.5.0 of the Foundry VTT module, Intelligent NPCs are able to banter during combat.

They are fed in the current combat state, including the status of Friend's and Foe's, and are asked to output banter. This banter is stored per-combat so they are aware of what each other said, but isn't persisted long-term as it's meant to be more idle banter than meaningful conversations. If you want to say something to an Intelligent NPC mid-combat that persists, use the normal conversation flow.

Intelligent NPCs currently have two triggers for when they banter in combat

On the start of their turn

When they are marked defeated

Best Practices

To get the most out of this feature, we recommend the following:

  1. Ensure all instances of NPCs are in the Combat as a Combatant
  2. Set Disposition for all Tokens relative to the Player (a HOSTILE Intelligent NPC will treat other HOSTILE NPCs as allies, and FRIENDLY as foes)
  3. Configure Resource bars, such as HP
